Knighton leaves Ottakar's on a high

<p>Liz Bury</p><p>Ottakar's unveiled improved margin and upbeat like-for-like growth as it announced the departure of Edward Knighton as finance director.</p><p>The bookseller is to open seven new stores before Christmas in Berkhamsted, Canterbury, St Andrews, St Neots, Teddington, Torquay and Twickenham.</p><p>M.d. James Heneage said: "We have a broad opening strategy to play the property market to best effect." It will take the chain to 131 stores by the end of 2004; Ottakar's said that on average its new shops reach profitability within a year.</p><p>Bad weather drove customers into shop...
