Palgrave Macmillan chairman Dominic Knight has been appointed vice-president and treasurer of the Publishers Association, at the trade body's annual general meeting today (8th May).
His election means two leading figures from academic publishing will be heading the PA's board during 2013-2014, as Nick Fowler, managing director of Elsevier's academic and government institutional markets group, steps into the role of PA president, with Ursula Mackenzie of Little, Brown relinquishing the role. Fowler served as vice-president and treasurer of the PA over the past year.
Knight was promoted to the position of chairman at Palgrave Macmillan in October last year, and also took on the role of executive director, business programmes for the Macmillan Group at that time.
Meanwhile Faber's Stephen Page, RHG's Gail Rebuck and Wiley's Jon Walmsley were also elected to the PA council this morning, with Ian Hudson, Chris Emerson and Bob Campbell stepping down.
