Jeff Kinney is releasing Diary of a Wimpy Kid spin-off Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Spooky Stories with Puffin in 2021, ahead of the 16th title in the hit series.
Kinney's spooky tales will be released on 16th March 2021 in hardback, e-book and audio editions, with a new Wimpy Kid in autumn 2021. The deal for UK rights was negotiated by Jane Griffiths, editorial director of Penguin Random House Children’s, with Yulia Borodyanskaya, Abrams vice-president, subsidiary rights and export sales.
Puffin said: “In Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Spooky Stories, readers are encouraged to grab a torch, crawl under the covers and dive into the twisted, unexpectedly hilarious world of Rowley Jefferson’s imagination. Meet a vampire who goes to nursery, a mummy with a bad lawyer, a ghost who overstays his welcome, and a myriad of other ghoulish characters in these comically terrifying tales."
Francesca Dow, m.d. of Penguin Random House Children’s Books, said: “We are thrilled and enormously proud to announce two new books in 2021 from the brilliant Jeff Kinney. We are excited to share Rowley’s third book of incredible imaginings with readers across the globe in March, with Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Spooky Stories. We hope that audiences enjoy reading more stories from Rowley’s voice, which is full of fun, kindness and adventure.”
