Adam Kay, Helen Fielding and David Nicholls have joined the line-up for Fane’s second Words Weekend festival.

The event at The Lowry in Salford from 27th to 29th March features more than 50 events and workshops, 25% of which are free.

Other speakers announced in the line-up today include Bob Geldof on upcoming lyrics anthology Tales of Boomtown Glory (Faber Music) and former "Today" presenter John Humphrys speaking about his long career.

Nicholls and Fielding join the roster of previously announced authors, while "The Wimpy Kid Show" host Alastair Watson will bring the Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Puffin) books to life with a range of fun activities.

Sought-after forensic psychologist Kerry Daynes, will discuss her frank and funny memoir The Dark Side of the Mind (Cassell), while Kay will be sharing entries from his diaries as a junior doctor in an “electrifying evening of stand-up and music”.

A partnership with the Manchester Deaf Centre will also provide BSL interpretation for the festival.
