Katy Loftus has been promoted to editorial director at Viking, where she will be helping to steer the direction of Viking’s commercial fiction publishing.
Loftus, who has most recently been commissioning editor at Viking, joined the publisher in May 2015 from Avon Books where she was an editor.
Viking publisher Mary Mount said Loftus has had "an extraordinary year". Her first publication for the list, My Husband’s Wife by Jane Corry, sold over 165,000 copies across print and e-book in 2016, according to Mount, who also praised her launch of debut novelists Nualla Ellwood, author of My Sister’s Bones, and Beth Underdown, author of The Witchfinder’s Sister.
"Her list for this year and beyond is remarkable for the originality of its voices and its compelling narratives," said Mount. "Katy has a very sharp editorial eye and a passionate and committed vision for all the writers on her list and is a huge asset to Viking."
