Katie Jennings has been appointed senior commissioning editor for Oneworld children's imprint Rock the Boat.
Jennings was previously commissioning editor for Stripes Publishing, part of The Little Tiger Group, where she was responsible for publishing authors such as Michelle Harrison and Steven Butler. In her career at Stripes, she also commissioned Holly Webb’s internationally bestselling Animal Stories series, Sinéad O’Hart’s middle-grade fiction and Alex Bell’s Frozen Charlotte, a Zoella Book Club Choice in 2016.
She is also a published children’s author, bringing out her first book, Rocket Boy (Little Tiger Group), in August 2020.
Juliet Mabey, fiction publisher at Oneworld, said: “I’m delighted that Katie is joining us to head our children’s list. She has a well-earned reputation for an astute eye for literary talent and a very hands-on approach to nurturing projects from an early stage, as well as being a children’s author in her own right. Her enthusiasm, energy and commercial nous will help us achieve our ambition to build a substantial children’s publishing business around our commitment to seek out brilliant, engaging stories and diverse voices across all age groups.”
Jennings said: “I’m hugely excited to be part of the amazing team at Oneworld – an indie publisher I’ve long admired. I can’t wait to work with their diverse, award-winning range of children’s and YA authors, and to grow the Rock the Boat list.”
