Kate Jones: 'one of the brightest and best'

<p>The national newspapers are running obituaries of Kate Jones, the London literary agent who died last Friday aged 46. In the <em>Independent</em>, Profile Books managing director Andrew Franklin pens a glittering tribute, describing Jones as &quot;one of the most brilliant literary agents of her generation&quot;, who was &quot;at the peak of her powers and changing the character of agenting in London&mdash;by sheer force and warmth of her personality.&quot;</p><p>In the <em>Guardian</em>, Robert McCrum says she was &quot;one of the brightest and best in the British book world: a rare and gifted reader, a dedicated and inspiring editor, and an exceptional publisher.&quot;</p><p>Hilary Hale has written Jones&#39; obituary for <em>The Bookseller</em>, to be published tomorrow.</p>
