Scottish independent book distributor BookSource has appointed Kate Gibb from Canongate as non-executive director to its board.
The company, which is the trading arm of Scottish book trade charity Publishing Scotland, made the announcement this week, following new investment and development plans for the business. Gibb, who is chief operating officer at Edinburgh-based Canongate Books and current chair of Publishing Scotland, will take her seat on the board immediately.
Davinder Bedi, BookSource chief exectuive officer, commented: "I am delighted to be working with yet another professional who has such a firm grasp on publishing. I am confident that Kate's background will provide BookSource with the additional thought-led capacity to continue to expand our well-established and new services across the UK publishing sector. Her extensive experience in books is wholly complementary to what we do at BookSource and I look forward to working with her in delivering on our ambitious growth plans."
Gibb added "BookSource is an organisation I have admired for some time and I am delighted to be joining the board to support Dav and his team going forward at a time when the industry needs service to be at the top of the agenda. It is great to see an organisation like BookSource supporting the sector, especially in assisting start-ups and small presses to flourish through their impressive scale and abilities. BookSource is on a journey and I very much look forward to being part of that as we continue to find new ways of helping publishers do business."
