Comedian Jenny Éclair, film producer Will Clarke and YouTuber AmyLee33 are joining Michael Rosen as the judges of the inaugural Laugh Out Loud Awards, known as the Lollies.
Scholastic launched the prize in October after the Roald Dahl Funny Prize came to an end.
The judges will now choose a shortlist of four books for three categories – best laugh out loud picture book, best laugh out loud book for 6-8 year-olds, and best laugh out loud book for 9-13 year-olds. The shortlist will be announced in February and the winners in July 2016.
Scholastic has also recruited toy company Hasbro as a sponsor.
Rachel Partridge, group marketing and PR director at Scholatic, said: “We’ve been delighted with the response from publishers and we can’t wait to see the judge’s shortlist selections. Hasbro have also just come on board to sponsor the awards and will be working with us to create some fantastic experiences for schools. We’re looking forward to engaging thousands of children next year and encouraging them to read, discuss and celebrate the best in funny books.”
