Jill Jones has been appointed as the new president and c.e.o. (EMEA) of print and digital information services provider Cengage Learning, replacing Tom Davy, who has left to start his own publishing business venture. According to Cengage, Davy left the company "on mutually agreed terms following a change in the strategic direction of the business". It is understood that he will take an extended break before launching his own publishing venture.
"I have greatly enjoyed my two years with Thomson/Cengage Learning and I shall miss the stimulation of working with some very talented colleagues. I am looking forward to taking some time off before embarking on a new business venture," said Davy in a statement.
In her new role role, Jones will oversee Cengage's operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and the senior management team for EMEA will report to her. She will also be looking to expand the company's digital solutions operations in the three regions. She will report to Cengage Learning's chief operating officer and chief financial officer Jerry Elliott.
Jones had previously worked as the general manager of the library and reference division of Thompson Learning International between 2003 and 2006, the company which later became Cengage Learning. She had also been employed at Pearson Education, Addison Wesley-Longman and education publisher Prentice Hall.
Most recently, she ran her own consultancy practice, working with clients in the higher education, school and library reference markets."
Jill brings tremendous experience in the education and library markets and has a sustained track record of achievement in building and managing market leading businesses. We are delighted to welcome Jill back to our organisation and are confident that she will provide strong leadership for our team in EMEA," said Cengage's Jerry Elliott of the new appointment.
