HarperCollins has snapped up world English rights the latest novel by Jonas Jonasson [pictured].
Hitman Anders and the Meaning of it All will be published by Fourth Estate (UK), Ecco (US) and HarperCollins Canada in April 2016.
The deal was struck with Carina Brandt at the Brandt New Agency in Barcelona.
The novel concerns a Swedish gangster who "concocts an unusual business plan with two unlikely sidekicks - and then accidentally finds God".
Fourth Estate editor Anna Kelly said: "It promises readers all the fun, imagination and exuberance of [Jonasson’s] The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared, served with a healthy dollop of Jonasson’s trademark satirical common sense."
Jonasson’s Hundred-Year-Old... was published by indie Hesperus Press in 2012, but a High Court order banning Hesperus from selling or distributing further copies was made earlier this year, following a dispute between Hachette Book Group and Hesperus over royalties.
