Jo Lal is to join Watkins Publishing Limited, as publisher, Watkins.
Lal will step into the role on 11th February. Her most recent role was director of author services at HarperCollins. Previously she worked as co-founding deputy marketing director, and marketing director, of Hay House.
Watkins m.d. James Spackman said: “I’m delighted that Jo is joining the team and bringing her exceptional understanding of readers and authors in the MBS area. Our intention is to make our MBS publishing innovative and truly reader-focused and Jo will lead."
Lal said: “I am thrilled to be joining Watkins. With its strong niche focus, brand heritage, expert authors and committed readers, I believe Watkins is well positioned to capitalise on the unique opportunities this time of change offers.
"I am looking forward to working with the team to evolve our publishing and content strategy in order to meet the changing needs and expectations of our authors and readers.”
Séverine Jeauneau, Watkins foreign rights director, has also been promoted, adding head of international publishing to her role. Jeauneau will run the newly created International Publishing Division, which will sell all rights, as well as creating internationally focused publishing projects.
Watkins Publishing Limited is a member of the Osprey Group, focusing on MBS, cookery, cultural reference, heath and wellbeing and lifestyle books.
