The former Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy has joined business publisher Global Professional Publishing in the role of chairman.
Murphy was the leader of the Scottish Labour party between 2014 and 2015 and an MP for East Renfrewshire between 2005 and 2015.
He announced his resignation from the party last May after Labour lost 40 Westminster seats to the Scottish National Party.
Global Professional Publishing (GPP), founded in 2004, is an independent business publisher specialising in accountancy, banking, lending, information technology & electronic commerce, insurance, politics, economics and business titles, among others.
Murphy said: "I am delighted to have been appointed Chairman of GPP and I am looking forward to working with the team to develop the business." He added that he hoped the company would “significantly grow the number of authors and titles we publish”.
“So our message is clear, if you are a budding author, we are open for business, please contact us," he said.
GPP is based in Hanover Square, London, and Tracey Dobby is its publishing director.
