Former Cengage Learning c.e.o. Jill Jones has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of Bloomsbury.
The appointment was announced at the publisher's AGM today (23rd July).
Chairman of the board Jeremy Wilson said: "Jill brings to the Board exceptional experience in digital and print publishing and digital content products centred on Bloomsbury's key strategic area of academic publishing."
Jones was c.e.o. of Cengage Learning from 2008 to 2012, and has previously worked at Pearson Education, Thomson Learning and Longman. She is a former chair of the Academic Publishers group at the Publishers Association.
Bloomsbury also announced that Wilson would be retiring as chairman of the board over the coming year, with a successor to be appointed. He has sat on the board as an independent director for eight years, spending six years as the chairman.
Wilson said: "Bloomsbury has adapted rapidly to the challenges of the digital era. Its business model of an integrated consumer and academic publishing house is well suited to the next stage of its development in an exciting and rapidly changing industry."
