London literary festival Jewish Book Week has reported a 5% rise in ticket sales for its 18th-26th February event, held at Kings Place in King's Cross.
A total of 10,000 tickets were sold this year. The 2012 festival included events with Umberto Eco, Claude Lanzmann, Alain de Botton and Professor Antony Polonsky. Books given UK launches at Jewish Book Week 2012 included New American Haggadah edited by Jonathan Safran Foer, The Eichmann Trial by Deborah Lipstadt, Suddenly, a Knock on the Door
by Israeli short-story master Etgar Keret, and Daniel Stein, Interpreter by
The festival was the final one with Geraldine D'Amico in place as director. Hester Abrams, a former Reuters journalist, took up the role on 1st March. Planning has already begun for next year's event, set to take place between 23rd February and 3rd March.
