Lord, who has been with Canongate since 2011, will join W&N on 26th September, reporting to publisher Alan Samson.
She started her editorial career at Fig Tree in 2006, working alongside Juliet Annan. After joining Canongate in 2011, she was later selected as a Bookseller Rising Star in 2013.
During Lord's time at Canongate, she has published a range of prize-winning and bestselling authors, including Amy Liptrot, Olivia Laing, Simon Garfield, Caitlin Doughty, Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo, Claudia Hammond, Maria Konnikova, Ella Berthoud and Susan Elderkin, Charles Schulz, Karl Pilkington and Russell Brand.
Lord said: "It has been a wild and wonderful five years at Canongate where I have had the privilege of working with some extraordinary writers and a dedicated, talented publishing family. But I am very excited to be joining Weidenfeld and working with the team there - it is a list I have admired for many years and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into this autumn."
Samson said: “I am gleefully looking forward to working with Jenny in making Weidenfeld the go-to non-fiction list in town. She is a brilliant editor and publisher, and the quality of her books and authors speaks volumes for her talent-spotting, insight and nurturing abilities. This a very exciting moment in the imprint’s history."
Jon Wood, Orion Group publisher, added: "We are incredibly excited to have Jenny join the group. She is one of the smartest publishers in the industry, with eclectic taste, commercial savvy and a love of top-notch writing. Her equally impressive record in acquiring both award-winners and bestsellers will be a huge asset to both Weidenfeld in particular and Orion in general."
