Jeni Evans is joining academic and professional e-book subscription company Perlego as director of publisher relations.
Evans has nearly 20 years experience in the publishing industry, including at Waterstones and Cengage, and most recently as head of business development for VitalSource. At Perlego she will be leading engagement activities with the company's 2,200-plus publisher partners.
She said: "I'm hugely excited to join the team at Perlego. The industry is now undoubtedly pointing towards a shift from ownership to access models, and aggregated subscription is now demanding our attention. This is a brilliant opportunity to be part of Perlego's growth towards this goal at a fairly critical juncture."
Evans added: "We have seen in recent years the film and music industries successfully addressing the consumer demand for aggregated subscription. I believe that a comparable shift is now imminent for the academic publishing industry and I look forward to working closely with market partners to help make this a success."
Matthew Jones, Perlego's vice president of content acquisition and strategy, said: "We're delighted to have Jeni joining the Perlego team at a pivotal point in our growth. Her experience and knowledge of the industry will be invaluable as we continue to work with the most forward-thinking academic and professional publishers".
