The Independent Publishers Guild has announced a new rights advisory service in association with Lynette Owen.
Owen, who retired from her role as copyright director at Pearson Education earlier this year, is the author and co-author of handbooks Selling Rights (Routledge), and Clark's Publishing Agreements (Bloomsbury Professional) respectively.
The new partnership begins this month and will see Owen providing advice on rights trading conditions and partners in markets around the world, as well as on members' rights negotiations and how to prepare for book fairs.
Owen will be offering one-on-one meeting slots for IPG members at Frankfurt Book Fair in October.
IPG chief executive Bridget Shine said the new services, included as part of publishers' annual subscriptions, would bring significant benefits, saying: "[Owen] has long been a greatly valued friend of the IPG and a wise counsel to independent publishers, and we think this will be an indispensable service for smaller members in particular."
