Pavilion Books has appointed Ione Walder to the role of commissioning editor.
Previously non-fiction editor at Quercus and before that project editor at HarperCollins, Walder has a background in publishing that covers a wide range of non-fiction, from cookery and TV tie-ins to celebrity memoir and commercial self-help. She has worked with many well-known authors and brands, including Gordon Ramsay, the Hummingbird Bakery, Lorraine Pascale, James Martin, Innocent drinks, Gok Wan and campaigner Katie Piper, and in collaboration with the BBC and The Times.
Walder will be acquiring titles across the Pavilion list, helping to "reinforce its already impressive food and drink offering as well as looking for commercial ways to help broaden the programme, while staying true to the uncompromising design and production values that set Pavilion’s books apart".
Katie Cowan, publishing director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ione to our commissioning team at Pavilion alongside Emily Preece-Morrison, Nicola Newman and Krissy Mallet. Ione’s track record is hugely impressive and I'm looking forward to seeing her list develop.”
Walder added: "I’ve worked with some wonderful colleagues and authors over the last four years at Quercus, but illustrated books will always be my first love, so I’m excited to be joining Pavilion, where beautiful illustrated publishing is right at the very core of its business.”
