BookMachine will host six events in six cities on 25th September.
The event and online networking service has partnered with organisations across the UK, US, Spain and Canada.
Under the strapline “six cities, six speakers, one night”, BookMachine is aiming to promote “the culture of collaboration in publishing” and help professionals connect through its online networking site. The 25th September date also marks the beta launch of the new "people discovery" platform BookMachine.me. This is like LinkedIn, apart from where LinkedIn will connect people to people they know, BookMachine.me will help users to find people they don't know, with the skills they are looking for.
The 25th September speaking events will take place in New York, London, Toronto, Barcelona, Oxford and Brighton. Top speakers include Eric Huang from Made in Me; c.e.o. of World Book Night Julia Kingsford; Kobo manager of publisher promotions Sophie Kahan; c.e.o. of BiblioCloud and Snowbooks Emma Barnes; consultant Julietta Lionetti; and Digital Media Labs’ Brett Sandusky.
Laura Austin, co-founder of BookMachine, said: “In a rapidly evolving industry, BookMachine offers an informal meet up for professionals, where they can pick up and discuss new ideas, kick-off brand new projects and expand their network of contacts.”
Early-bird tickets for the events are currently on sale. Each event will offer guests drinks, prize draws and special offers.
