Ebury Publishing imprint Vermilion has acquired two books from midwife and Instagram star Clemmie Hooper: a pregnancy and baby journal, and a first year baby book.
Samantha Jackson at Vermilion bought world rights in the books from Cathryn Summerhayes at Curtis Brown. They are provisionally titled How to Grow a Baby: Pregnancy and First Year Journal and How to Grow a Baby: The First Year and will both be full-colour and illustrated, publishing in hardback in March 2018 and in paperback September 2019, respectively.
"Pregnancy and parenting is such a huge topic and I feel very passionate about sharing the highs and low to today’s modern women," said Hooper, a midwife at Kings College Hospital, London and mother to four girls.
The new books follow Hooper's first book, How to Grow a Baby and Push It Out, which published in February. Jackson said they would "continue to break the mould of traditional pregnancy and parenting books by being beautifully designed and perfectly packaged for a new generation of mums".
She added: "Clemmie is a dream author to work with, being both a sought-after midwife and a mum to four beautiful girls – she speaks as a mother and an expert – and we’re very excited to continue to build her brand."
