Inpress Festival celebrates best of indie innovation

Indie publishing is where all the innovation in the trade takes place, Sam Missingham claimed, as the Inpress Festival of Publishing celebrated the work of small presses.

At an all-day event in London’s Canada Water Theatre on Friday, booksellers and trade professionals shared tips and stories on everything from cover design to working with indie bookshops.

In a keynote speech, Missingham, who runs consultancy The Empowered Author, said most big publishers were not interested in innovation and some in the trade laboured under the illusion their imprints were big name brands.
