HarperCollins has signed a "beautifully illustrated and innovative" book filled with writing prompts entitled The Accidental Memoir.
PR and publishing director Michelle Kane acquired world rights for The Accidental Memoir by Eve Makis and Anthony Cropper from Diana Beaumont at Marjacq Scripts. Publication is scheduled for summer 2018.
The project is a "beautifully illustrated and innovative" book filled with "inventive and accessible" writing prompts, as well as tips for readers wanting to document their lives and explore their creativity. It will contain a foreword by author Alexander Masters. The concept was developed over 12 months and exists currently as an Arts Council project which has been used to help people tap into their own lives such as refugees, the elderly and prisoners.
"The Accidental Memoir truly is for all: writers and non-writers, teachers and students, the perfect book for anyone seeking inspiration or imaginative ways to explore their own life story", said the publisher.
Makis and Cropper said: “The idea began as a way of collecting family stories and became a book everyone can use to celebrate their lives, explore formative memories and recognise the magic in everyday experience. We are absolutely thrilled that Fourth Estate share our enthusiasm for the book.”
Kane added: “I am delighted to be part of this wonderful, worthwhile project and I know this book will enrich the lives of many. I can’t wait to publish it and take it out to its widest possible audience.”
