Injunction given to halt Brent libraries board-up

Lawyers acting for Brent's library campaigners have been granted an injunction to prevent further dismantling to the six libraries closed by
Brent council.

John Halford of law firm Bindmans said that at this morning's (19th October) hearing Brent council had agreed "not to do anything physically" to Kensal Rise Library, and "not to do anything that can't be undone" in connection with any of the six closed libraries. The court of appeal hearing into the closures will take place within a fortnight of 7th November, it has been confirmed.

Local residents had mounted well-publicised vigils outside Kensal Rise Library and others as Brent council tried to board them up following the failure of the High Court challenge against the closures last week.
