Taylor & Francis's parent company Informa has announced the year's trading "remains strong" so far, highlighting publishing sales as contibuting to overall growth within the company. According to an interim management statement, publishing sales year-to-date have grown 10%.
The statement said: "Whilst no business will be totally immune from the economic backdrop, our publishing businesses have continued to grow well.
"We are confident that renewal rates for our substantial academic business in the final quarter of 2008 will be as strong as they have been in previous years."
The statement also highlighted the 40% of revenues denominated in dollars, which would serve to "materially increase our reported results on a like for like basis" if sterling continued to depreciate against the US currency. No one from the company was available for further comment. The firm said the statement would be followed by a trading update in the middle of December.
