Orion's new YA imprint Indigo has acquired two titles from debut author James Dawson.
Commissioning editor Amber Caraveo acquired world rights to Hollow Pike, plus another title, from Jo Williamson at Antony Harwood Ltd.
Hollow Pike, which will be published in February 2012, is a "mesmerising thriller with plenty of twists and a compelling dash of witchcraft", according to the publisher.
Caraveo said: "The pace and atmosphere of Hollow Pike make it absolutely gripping. It's a rollercoaster ride of a thriller and James Dawson is a bright new talent in the YA arena. I am delighted to welcome him to our exciting new Indigo imprint."
Dawson added "I am thrilled to be a part of the Indigo family . . . I can't wait for Hollow Pike to be released so we can finally share it with young adult readers - I hope they're ready for something a bit dark and twisted!".
Until recently, Dawson worked as a teacher, and was previously a journalist, and wrote a weekly serial for a Brighton newspaper.
