Self-published author Richard Veitch is to visit literary agencies in London this week with a mobile billboard advertising van promoting his zombie horror series to agents.
The van will carry posters proclaiming The Undead series, written under pen name R R Haywood, as "The best selling UK zombie horror series, entirely self-published, award-winning, over 500 5-star reviews, a cult following of thousands… and still no literary agent!!!"
Veitch will also be visiting five major publishers on Friday (21st July), with a group of professional actors dressed as zombies, to promote his work with deliveries of cupcakes.
The author said: "I began The Undead series in May 2012, and there have been 30,000 downloads of the 15-book series. People adore it, it's constantly picking up five star reviews on Amazon and the following's massive. I keep doing agents' submissions, and I've had a couple showing tentative interest, but then, 'No.' I've just done another round of submissions and I thought 'I'll just go to London'." Veitch is based in the Isle of Wight.
He added: "It's all tongue-in-cheek, if any agents look at me scornfully I will go away. But these are the lengths a self-published author will go to to get a publisher."
