Index raises sales

<p>Index Books, the Kettering-based direct sales specialist, increased its sales by 36% in 2004. In the year to end-December, turnover increased from &#163;14m to &#163;19m.</p><p>Pretax profit rose from &#163;1.05m to &#163;1.25m. Sales are expected to be more than &#163;20m for the financial year to end-March 2005.</p><p>The company plans to further expand by increasing its sales agent base. It currently employs 210 agents for the Index and Quality Books Direct brands.</p><p>The proportion of book or book-related product has risen to 85% of turnover, up by around 5% in the past year.
