The Independent Pubishers Guild is now taking nominations for its Independent Publishing Awards 2010. The awards reward excellence in independent publishing, with the winners revealed on Saturday 20th March 2010 during the IPG’s annual Conference, to be held this year at Beaumont House in Windsor.
This year a new award has been created, the Grantham Book Service 'Services to Independent Publishers Award 2010', in honour of Julie Nix, former client services manager at GBS who worked for the company for 30 years before her death in 2007. The IPG said: "There are many individuals and companies in the book business who go that extra mile to serve independent publishers in the UK and Ireland, and this award is a great way of highlighting their contributions." A panel of experienced judges will choose a winner based on nominations. Submissions should be between 100 and 200 words in length and in common with the other Independent Publishing Awards should be based on services and achievements in 2009 to UK and Irish independent publishers. Nominations should be sent by email to the IPG: info@ipg.uk.com.
Last year travel publisher Alastair Sawday won a hat-trick of honours at the awards. Sawday won the environmental award and trade publisher of the year as well as the overall award The van Tulleken Independent Publisher of the Year.
Deadline for all entries is 26th February 2010.
