Puffin, a division of Penguin Random House Children’s Books, has acquired five further picture books by author and illustrator Ed Vere.
The deal includes Grumpy Frog, which will be released by Puffin in May 2017, and three books that will be published alongside Doubleday Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books US, starting in 2018.
Editorial director Andrea MacDonald, who struck the deal for world rights with Barry Goldblatt at Barry Goldblatt Literary Agency, said: “We’re so proud to continue our long-term commitment to Ed. Since we first published him in 2006, Ed has gone from strength to strength, firmly establishing him as a truly exciting creator of children’s stories, which are by turns witty, heartfelt, energetic and surprising. This ambitious deal marks the next stage in Ed’s global ascent.”
Vere’s previous books for Puffin include Max the Brave.
