Igloo Books partners with Aldi for second Kevin and Katie title

Igloo Books is again partnering with Aldi to publish books based on the supermarket’s new Kevin and Katie Christmas advert.

Paul Gregory, c.e.o. at Igloo Books, said: “We’re incredibly proud that Aldi has once again chosen to partner with us as part of their much-loved Christmas campaign. Kevin the Carrot is fast becoming a national treasure and we’re thrilled to be working together to bring this festive fairy-tale inspired story to families everywhere.”

This year’s picture book, Kevin the Carrot and the Christmas Beanstalk, was written by Igloo Books’ in-house writer Stephanie Moss and illustrated by Adam Horsepool, and tells the story of what happens when ‘Wicked Parsnip’ tries to ruin Christmas day. It will retail for £2.99 at Aldi stores across the UK from 22nd November.

Igloo Books will also publish the Kevin the Carrot Christmas Activity Book, which will also be priced at at £2.99.

Julie Ashfield, m.d. of buying at Aldi UK, said: “Kevin and Katie have continued to capture the hearts of families across the UK, so this year we’re really pleased to be able to offer a new, beautifully-illustrated story as well as an activity book, both as part of our Christmas collection. We hope that Kevin the Carrot and the Christmas Beanstalk will give fans of the superstar carrot and opportunity to follow the adventure on and off the television screen.”

Last year Igloo Books created a picture book based on Kevin the carrot entitled Kevin and Katie’s Christmas Adventure. Sales were not tracked through Nielsen BookScan but Kevin and Katie’s Christmas Adventure was the biggest selling children’s book at Christmas compared like-for-like with sales through Nielsen’s TCM, according to the publisher.

The first print run of 100,000 copies sold out within two days of publication. Another 100,000 copies were delivered within a three-week period, and sales reached 200,000 units in four weeks, the company said.
