Former Labour MP and Europe Minister Denis MacShane is writing an assessment of Britain’s relationship with Europe for I B Tauris.
The book, titled Brexit, was acquired by Jo Godfrey, senior editor at I B Tauris. ‘Brexit’ is a term coined by MacShane which blends the words 'British' and 'exit, and refers to the possibility of Great Britain leaving the European Union.
MacShane’s book will look at how how Britain is “now dangerously and irreversibly close to the exit door to Europe” and “who is to blame for the current British mess over Europe”.
Godfrey said: “Denis pulls no punches and dealing, as it does, with what will be a major flashpoint issue of the 2015 election, Brexit will prove a lively and essential read.”
I B Tauris will publish the book in February 2015 to coincide with the run-up to the general election in May. MacShane will be involved in an extensive media campaign to support the book.
MacShane has previously signed a deal for a book with Biteback, recounting his experiences in prison following his conviction for submitting fraudulent expenses.
