Nigella Lawson's publicist Mark Hutchinson is to leave PR company Colman Getty after 13 years. Hutchinson will leave in December to start work as a freelance.
Chief executive Dotti Irving said Hutchinson's departure would be "a huge wrench" for the company. She said: "We’ve worked together with fabulous clients and projects over the years and I know he’ll be missed by a lot of them and by everyone here at Colman Getty.
"But of course things can’t stay the same for ever and we all wish him the very best for the future."
Hutchinson's clients at Colman Getty have included Nigella Lawson, whose PR, including personal PR, he has looked after since 1998. He was also part of the team handling personal PR for J K Rowling.
Irving would not comment on whether any clients were expected to follow Hutchinson. She said: "We've just got to see how things progress."
An internal restructure following news of Hutchinson's departure will see account director Kirsten Dennis joining Colman Getty's existing new media manager Sheerin Aswat in a new standalone unit. The agency said it has been created "to meet the increasing demand for digital marketing and partnership opportunities to supplement the traditional PR offer".
