'Human spider' spins his yarn

<p>Irish non-fiction publisher Maverick House has snapped up the rights to the autobiography of the man known as the &quot;Human Spider&quot;, Frenchman Alain Robert.</p><p>Maverick House editorial director John Mooney acquired <em>With Bare Hands: the True Story of Alain Robert, the Human Spider</em> from Blackstock Books, Hong Kong for a five-figure sum. Publication is set for September 2008. &quot;Alain has achieved the impossible, and is an inspiration to many,&quot; said Maverick House m.d. Jean Harrington. &quot;We anticipate that <em>With Bare Hands</em> will be the extreme sports book of the year.&quot;</p><p>Promotional plans include launch events in both the UK and Ireland, a nationwide publicity campaign including radio and television appearances, interviews with the national press and signing sessions at leading bookshops.</p><p>Robert, 45, has climbed more than 80 of the world&#39;s tallest buildings without ropes, and was the subject of a recent Channel 4 documentary that pulled in 2.5 million viewers.</p>
