Hull-set debut goes to Wm Heinemann

Drummond Moir at Wm Heinemann has bought at auction a debut novel set in Hull after the 2007 floods. Russ Litten's Scream If You Want to Go Faster, described as "dark, poignant and abrasive", was acquired from Jon Elek at A P Watt.

Moir bought UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada). The book follows a dozen "brilliantly realised" characters over the course of one October weekend, and Moir called it a "startlingly assured and absorbing debut".

The novel will be published as trade paperback in February 2011, and as a Windmill paperback the following year.
