H&S buys fantasy trilogy

Hodder & Stoughton has acquired a magical fantasy trilogy by debut novelist James Treadwell.

The story features 15-year-old Gavin Stokes who keeps seeing mysterious or magical things, and who is sent to stay with his aunt in Cornwall.

Publishing director Carolyn Mays pre-empted world rights in the trilogy from Will Francis of Janklow & Nesbit. She said: "I picked this up in the evening to look at the first page and couldn't put it down until I'd finished it the next morning. It's absolutely magical."

Hodder will publish the first book of the adult/YA crossover series in hardcover in February 2012, with the second and third novels in the trilogy to follow at 18-month intervals.
