HQ triumphs in six-way auction for Caroline Hirons debut

HarperCollins imprint HQ has triumphed in a six-way auction to snap up skincare expert Caroline Hirons' debut.

Lisa Milton, executive publisher at HQ Lisa Milton and HQ senior commissioning editor Kate Fox acquired world all language rights from Bev James Management. HQ will publish in the UK and Commonwealth in hardback, eBook and audio on 30th April 2020, followed shortly in the US and Canada by Harper 360 in May 2020.

skinCARE will be the "go-to book for women of all ages, with everything from Caroline’s signature skincare cheat sheets, simple tips and tricks to glow inside and out, understanding ingredients lists, and advice on how to choose the products that are right for you. skinCARE will be the ultimate guide to healthier, brighter skin," said HQ.

Hirons said: "My blog readers have been asking me to write a book for years, so I’m beyond thrilled to announce I’m releasing my first book next spring and sharing my skincare knowledge with the world. Skincare has been my obsession for 35 years and my profession for 20. I know the facts, the myths, the truly awful expensive stuff, the really great cheap options and everything in between. My book, skinCARE, will be for everyone, no matter their age, skin type or skin conditions and will cover everything you need to know for clearer, healthier, glowing skin. While you can expect my straight talking, no nonsense approach, I hope it will be clear that my only intention is for everyone to have the skin they want. I’ll cut out the jargon, tell you what you do and don’t need and hopefully get the nation off facewipes for good. Plus, my mum is overjoyed and can’t wait to tell all her friends that her daughter’s face is going to be in bookshops."

With over 100 million views to her blog and 13 million views of her YouTube videos, Hirons is trained in more than 100 brands, spanning from the professional arena to the high street and has developed training programmes, customer service etiquette and bespoke facials for major brands and retailers within the skin care sector. For the last 10 years, she’s been working as an advisory consultant to brand owners and all major beauty corporations.

Milton said: "For some years, I’ve been addicted to Caroline’s brilliant advice. Honest, helpful and incredibly knowledgeable, Caroline is the skincare guru everyone needs. Our book will be packed with information, advice and tips. We are going to have a lot of fun with this – and start a skincare revolution."

Fox added: With her no-nonsense, no-fuss advice, Caroline is the last word in everything from choosing the perfect cleanser to troubleshooting problem skin for good. I’m so excited to publish her definitive guide on how we can all have healthier, happier skin."
