Laura Palmer, publishing director at Head of Zeus, has made two new signings in the crime and thriller genre.
Palmer acquired UK and Commonwealth (excluding Canada) rights to debut author Rachael Blok’s “emotionally charged” crime novel, Shadows of the Lake, which is set in a picture-perfect cathedral city in the week before Christmas, from the Eve White Agency.
The title blends “the puzzle-solving of a police procedural with the emotional heft of a psychological thriller”, said Palmer.
Head of Zeus will publish Shadows of the Lake in November 2018.
Palmer also bought UK and Commonwealth (excluding Canada) rights to a “dazzling” speculative thriller about seven murdered girls who manipulate the rules of the afterlife to take revenge on their killer.
Agent Danny Baror from Baror International brokered the deal.
Palmer said: “Ghost Rules hooked me in because it's a gripping, highly original thriller featuring ghosts, time travel and awesome women who won't give up.”
Head of Zeus will publish the title in September 2019.
