Hopscotch throws in lot with MAG

<p>Hopscotch Educational Publishing has been bought by the Mark Allen Group for an undisclosed sum.<br />The primary books specialist will sit as an imprint in the Mark Allen Education division, alongside books and magazines publisher Step Forward and a clutch of educational magazines including SecEd and Early Years Educator. &quot;[Hopscotch] dovetails well with our other publishing and gives us a broader market to sell in to,&quot; said deputy m.d. David Kemp. &quot;We think education is very much a growing area and we want to expand in it in our small way.&quot; </p><p>According to Kemp, the Mark Allen Education division (including Hopscotch) turns over around &pound;2m a year. Hopscotch recorded a turnover of &pound;432,985 in the year to 30th April 2006, and an operating loss of &pound;18,595.</p><p>The deal sees the Hopscotch offices move from Corsham, near Bath, to London. All four staff have left the company, but its two founding directors continue to act as consultants. </p><p>MAG turns over &pound;10m a year. It houses a diverse portfolio of companies including health care journals, a range of business to business magazines, and office and contract furniture suppliers.<br /></p>
