David Hofmeyr’s debut novel Stone Rider is attracting film and international publishing deals.
Curtis Brown’s Stephanie Thwaites has sold the film rights of Hofmeyr's Stone Rider (Penguin Children’s) to Working Title, the British film production company behind hits such as "Atonement" and "Love Actually".
Penguin, which will publish Stone Rider in 2015, has announced rights deals in the US and Canada (Random House USA), Germany (DTV), France (Gallimard), Latvia (Jumava), Russia (AST), and Portugal and Brazil (Objetiva).
Penguin Children’s editorial director Ben Horslen acquired world rights just before Frankfurt Book Fair in September.
Thwaites called the novel “one of the most arresting and original debuts I’ve read in a long time".
