Hodder & Stoughton has formed a digital partnership with transmedia producer, Pure Grass Films. Senior editor at H&S Kate Howard bought world publishing rights in four properties from the producer through Luigi Bonomi at Luigi Bonomi Associates.
The properties are tentatively titled Shadow Line, Glow, Shape Shifters and The Lost Gate, and will be turned into novels and apps, building gaming, community, social media and video elements around the digital versions of the books.
Howard said: "The team loved each of these stories and we were deeply impressed by the potential to create immersive experiences for each of them. We see Pure Grass as a leader in transmedia storytelling and we intend to continue our commitment to be at the forefront of changes in the publishing landscape with this kind of partnership."
Ben Grass, managing director and founder of Pure Grass Films, which is part-owned by Endemol, said: "This deal allows us to create groundbreaking transmedia story experiences around four of our properties by partnering with global publishing leader, Hachette. The story worlds will start in books and in the digital world, but will then migrate to the cinema and television."
