Hodder will publish a new domestic suspense thriller by Aimee Molloy.
In her first acquisition for Hodder, commissioning editor Noor Sufi acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Goodnight Beautiful from Jenny Meyer at the Jenny Meyer Literary Agency on behalf of Elisabeth Weed at The Book Group. The title will be launched in e-book and audiobook in October 2020, followed by a paperback in 2021.
Goodnight Beautiful follows a newly-wed couple, therapist Sam Statler and his wife Annie, who move to a small town in upstate New York. Sam sets up a home office, unaware that every word of his sessions can be heard by Annie from the room upstairs. Sam's lies soon begin to escalate, and when he disappears, it becomes a race against time to uncover what has happened to him.
The publisher calls it "a brilliant story of a whirlwind marriage in which untold secrets and games threaten to destroy them both".
Sufi said: “I absolutely loved Aimee’s debut novel The Perfect Mother and I knew from the very first few pages of Goodnight Beautiful that it was going to be just as excellent! With her clever plotting and deeply-flawed characters, Aimee has written a whip-smart, twisty and wholly unpredictable novel with a nod to Stephen King’s Misery.”
The Perfect Mother was published by HarperCollins US in 2018.
