Hodder acquires teen paranormal romance trilogy

Hodder Children's Books has acquired a teen paranormal romance trilogy, written by debut author and Random House adult fiction publicist Ruth Warburton.

Senior editorial manager for fiction at Hodder Children's Sara O'Connor acquired world rights for a five-figure sum to the three titles through Eve White at the Eve White Literary Agency.

The first title in the series, A Witch in Winter, will be published in spring 2012. The story follows Anna Winterson, an unwitting witch who meets and falls in love with Seth and enchants him to fall in love with her too—but in so doing, she amplifies a rift between two rival witch clans.

O'Connor said: "I'm so thrilled that this outstanding debut author is my first acquisition for the Hodder list. Ruth has constructed such a compelling read with a new twist on the paranormal romance genre: a powerful, principled female lead with a healthy perspective on her passionate but complicated romance with the gorgeous Seth."

Warburton is a publicity manager at Random House, across Chatto & Windus, Harvill Secker, Yellow Jersey Press and Square Peg.
