Historic England and Liverpool University Press form publishing partnership

Liverpool University Press will run the Historic England imprint in a new partnership, managing its 300-plus backlist titles, as well as publishing new books under licence.

John Hudson, head of publishing for Historic England, described LUP as “a good home for our list and for our fine authors of books already published and those to come,” saying the publisher was “a great cultural fit” for Historic England and “our clear choice from a number of serious applications”.

Anthony Cond, LUP m.d., said: “Historic England Publishing is amongst the most well-known and highly-regarded imprints in heritage publishing. Building on the outstanding efforts of John Hudson and his team, LUP will further grow the readership for the list in print and digital formats, and expand and enhance the editorial focus working in harmony with Historic England.”

Books will move to LUP’s distributors – Turpin Distribution for UK/ROW and Oxford University Press for the Americas – from July 1st.

The arrangement follows on from recent partnerships struck with the Voltaire Foundation and The Conversation UK.
