Hilton's Maestra gets film deal

The first book acquired by Zaffre, the adult fiction imprint of Bonnier Publishing, has been optioned by Columbia Pictures for a film adaptation.

Amy Pascal, a producer for the forthcoming "Ghostbusters", "Spider-Man", and Angelia Jolie's Cleopatra movie, is set to produce the film adaptation of Maestra following a deal by CAA.

Maestra by L S Hilton is the first of three books following the story of Judith Rashleigh, who works in a London auction house by day, and an insalubrious bar at night. When she stumbles across a conspiracy, she ends up in a battle for her life.

Mark Smith, chief executive of Bonnier Publishing Fiction said: "When I first read Maestra, I knew we had something extra special on our hands and that the author had created a lead character that readers around the world would fall in love with. Sometimes books are just really of their moment - capturing the mood, the anxieties and the issues that are troubling all of us at a certain point in time."

Maestra will be published in January 2016.
