Ebury Publishing imprint WH Allen has acquired a “highly personal” biography of the 41st American president, George HW Bush, written by his son, the 43rd US president George W Bush.
Ed Faulkner, deputy publisher at Ebury Publishing, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to 41: A Portrait of My Father from Lance Fitzgerald at The Crown Publishing Group in the US.
The book will be released on November 11th in the UK simultaneously with the US edition.
Described as a “unique and intimate” biography, the book will cover the “entire scope of the elder President Bush’s life and career, including his service in the Pacific during World War II, his pioneering work in the Texan oil business, and his political rise as a Congressman, US Representative to China and the United Nations, CIA Director, Vice President and President”.
It will shine new light on the former president, said WH Allen, with George W Bush also discussing his father’s influence on him.
Geroge W Bush said: “George HW Bush is a great servant, statesman and father. I loved writing the story of his life and I hope others enjoy reading it.”
George W Bush previously wrote Decision Points (Virgin Books), a memoir focusing on the most consequential decisions in his life. It has sold 28,464 copies through Nielsen BookScan.
