Canongate has announced two new hires in the Canongate Design department: Gill Heeley and Valeri Rangelov.
Reporting into art director Rafi Romaya, Heeley joins from Penguin Random House as senior designer, and Rangelov, a recent graphic design graduate with experience studying design and illustration at Lahti University in Finland, joins as junior designer.
"I’m delighted that Gill and Valeri are joining the Canongate Art Team," said Romaya. "Their creative design flair and publishing knowledge makes them a great fit for Canongate."
Over the course of seven years at PRH, Heeley worked with authors including Elizabeth Strout, Deborah Levy, John Banville, Sophie Mackintosh and, more recently, Florence Welch.
Heeley [pictured below, left] said: "I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the art department at Canongate. Over the years I have greatly admired its distinctive and innovative book cover design and I feel hugely honoured to be joining the team."
Rangelov [pictured below, right] added: " am proud to associate myself with a book publisher who has faithfully brought and keeps bringing its readers the works and worlds of so many great minds across genres."
