Headline signs new voice in sagas

Sam Hayes, a new writer of commercial women's fiction, has signed a two-book deal with Headline.

Hayes's debut, Blood Ties, marks her as a "tremendously exciting new voice", says Sherise Hobbs, who bought the books. The novel is the story of three people whose lives are connected by the abduction of a baby. "It's for everyone whose ideal read combines sophisticated writing with gritty real-life drama and a gripping, hard-hitting story," Hobbs says. It will appear in spring 2007.

Hobbs bought the books through Merel Reinink of Johnson&Alcock. Headline has world English rights.
