Headline has signed a fourth novel by Victoria Hislop, while the author - who reached the number one spot for The Return - continues the work on her third.
Flora Rees, fiction editor at Headline, struck the deal for British Commonwealth rights, including Canada but excluding Europe, via Hislop's agent David Miller for an undisclosed sum.
The announcement was made as Hislop received the Nielsen Platinum Award, given for sales of one million copies through Bookscan of the paperback edition of her first novel The Island.
Rees said: "I’ve loved working with Victoria over the past few years, and I am thrilled that Headline will be publishing her next books."
Jane Morpeth, Headline managing director said: "Victoria Hislop is a unique author with a great talent for writing in a way that informs as she entertains.
She has become a genuine part of the Headline team, and we are looking forward to an even more exciting future with her."
