Headline re-signs Doherty

Headline has re-contracted with historical crime author Paul Doherty, signing new frontlist titles as well as "numerous" backlist novels by the author.

Doherty has published more than 90 books, and received an OBE in the 2012 New Year's Honours List for services to education. His first novel with Headline, Satan in St Mary’s, was published in 1990.

Publisher Vicki Mellor acquired world rights in the backlist and frontlist titles through David Headley of the DHH Literary Agency. She said: "We have been lucky enough to have worked with Paul for over 20 years now and his skill as a storyteller is only matched by the fantastic knowledge and gravitas that he brings to his mysteries.

"It's incredibly exciting to be given the opportunity to bring all of Paul's wonderful stories to the public's attention and we can't wait to begin publishing later this year."

Headley added: "Vicki Mellor's, and Headline's, enthusiasm, as well as commitment to Paul and his books, will mean that his considerable backlist will be available to his many fans, with some books available for the first time in the UK. It's a truly fantastic and exciting deal for all concerned."
